Whether he is teaching others, performing live or composing original songs, Troy’s passion for the guitar shines through.
Troy Toma grew up in Langley, BC and in his early teens moved with his family to California where he picked up his first guitar. At the age of 17 he returned Canada and played in local bands as well as studied classical guitar at Kwantlen University. Troy was invited to play a Vivaldi Concerto in concert upon graduation. Since then he has been teaching guitar and playing live shows. He is the owner and operator of Cadence School of Music in Langley, BC.
He has written and released 3 CD’s during his music career, Present Freedom, Beach and Guitar, and his latest, released this past spring, Cold Love. Cold Love has been in the works for 2 years and was recorded with Pete Barone, on drums, and Lee McDonough, on bass. They are both very talented musicians and Troy feels privileged to have had them in the studio for this recording.
Troy has been teaching guitar for more than 20 years and has played in all genres of bands from Heavy Metal to Country. Although he really enjoys doing cover shows, Troy is most passionate about writing music and playing his originals on stage with Pete and Lee.
"...Celestial Ruin made a wicked choice in guitarist for the night...Troy Toma was absolutely outstanding. His may be the best live guitar performance I have ever witnessed. Halfway through the set he provided an interlude of intense shredding alone on stage that was one of the highlights of the night for me."
